Position Overview:

Maple Street School seeks a dedicated and dynamic Middle School Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of middle school education and mathematics, demonstrate a commitment to student-centered learning, and bring creativity to the classroom. Opportunities exist to develop co-curricular programming in an area of candidate interest. Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement engaging and effective math lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and educational philosophy.

  2. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages active participation, critical thinking, a growth mindset, and a love for learning.

  3. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and real-world applications to make mathematical concepts relevant and interesting.

  4. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of middle school students.

  5. Serve as homeroom teacher and advisor to a group of middle school students, overseeing their academic and social-emotional growth.

  6. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary connections and contribute to the overall academic program.

  7. Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

  8. Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support the academic and social-emotional development of each student.

  9. Possibly develop and deliver an extracurricular class such as robotics, coding, digital literacy, or other interest (math-related or not).

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.

  2. A joyful enthusiasm for middle school learners.

  3. Strong knowledge of best practices in pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment.

  4. Team approach to teaching, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  5. Dedication to ongoing professional development and a growth mindset.
