Position Summary:

The Carroll School seeks teaching candidates with a growth mindset and a true passion and commitment to lifelong learning. This position is a full-time long-term substitute teacher as a Physical Education Instructor for 1st through 5th grade students.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to five or six classes during the day
  • Formulate lesson plans for  physical education/health education for the student population to be taught in-person as well as remotely
  • Plan and implement programs to promote development of student fitness, health, and wellness.
  • Work with students to promote positive self-esteem.
  • Assist classroom teachers in preparing special programs for students.
  • Apply a multisensory, diagnostic, prescriptive approach to instruction
  • Complete semester assessments of each student for grading purposes.
  • Identify, order, store, and inventory equipment, materials, and supplies used in the physical education program.
  • Facilitate problem resolution when appropriate.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and support school-wide standards and policies for safety and health.
  • Perform building duties as assigned by the Division Head of School, for example, early morning drop-off duty.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or Elementary Education 
  • Minimum of two years experience in a physical education teaching role preferably in a private school setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong commitment to promoting physical health and wellness
  • Have the ability to teach using multi-sensory education methods and using educational technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Google Suite including Google Classroom
