SUMMARY

Gann Academy seeks an inspiring, creative Instrumental Music Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This position will involve directing two instrumental ensembles (jazz and chamber) and teaching in Gann’s innovative Arts Foundation program. In addition, the Instrumental Music Teacher is a member of the core faculty of the Arts Department, with activities including advising, supervision of special events, and related activities that contribute to the school community and the educational experience of our students. Preference will be given to qualified applicants who focus on developing creative musicianship with additional experience in digital music production and songwriting.

Job Responsibilities – Ensembles

• Manage registration for instrumental ensembles

• Direct two 9th- 12th-grade instrumental ensembles, chamber, and jazz

• Cultivate a positive learning environment and a cohesive ‘team culture’ among musicians

• Arrange music and create learning tracks for both ensembles

• Select arrangements from resources and instrumental music websites

• Plan logistics and transportation for performances

Education, Certifications, and Work-related Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in music or equivalent experience

• Three years of secondary-level classroom teaching experience preferred

• Knowledge of subjects assigned

• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

• Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills

$25,000 Commission

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands include dexterity in operating office machines and supplies, including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, copy machines, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods are common.
