MetroWest Jewish Day School is hiring a Grades 4/5 teacher 

MetroWest Jewish Day School (MWJDS) is a vibrant and innovative PK-8 pluralistic Jewish day school that nurtures students and challenges them to reach their potential on their journeys of learning and discovery. Nestled among the woods in Framingham, Massachusetts, MWJDS customizes an individualized approach to optimize each student’s learning, balancing the levels of support and challenge they need to thrive according to their academic and emotional profile. Our intentionally small classes (5-10 students each) enable us to fulfill our commitment to “educating children according to their path” (Proverbs), and we firmly hold that all good education is differentiated education because all learners are unique.

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced classroom teacher to teach a combined grades 4/5 classroom for the 2024-2025 school year. 

 

What you will do

Overview
Reporting to the Head of School, you will instruct this cohort of 7-8 students in math, literacy, social studies, and science. You will provide learning opportunities for students in accordance with program objectives and each student‘s abilities, interests, and needs. All teachers at MWJDS are strong role models, exude a genuine passion for the work to students, families, and peers, and are knowledgeable or open to learning about Jewish practice, traditions and values. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Instruct students in accordance with the MWJDS philosophy of education, policies, and curriculum using the MA frameworks to guide curriculum. 
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the abilities of the students and the objectives of the course. 
  • Establish meaningful connections with each child to gain a comprehensive understanding of their unique qualities and learning preferences, enabling tailored instruction that caters to individual learning styles.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Proficiently address a variety of academic and socio-emotional needs, implementing customized support systems to ensure continuous progress for every child.
  • Foster a love for learning by creating engaging and interactive lessons that spark curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate their progress to parents or guardians regularly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance the educational experience for students.
  • Integrate technology into classroom instruction. 
  • Perform other related duties as required by the school administration

Who you are:

  • Have 4+ years of teaching experience in a classroom setting
  • Comfortable in a classroom with other educators and instructing across two grade level
  • Masters degree in Elementary Education or a related field preferred
  • Dual certified in General and Special Education preferred
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1-B visa status).

Details

Salary: Up to $60,000, depending on experience and degrees

Benefits: We offer numerous benefits including healthcare options, personal, vacation, and sick time, and summers off. We are closed on Jewish and most national holidays and have early release Fridays.

Hours: This is a full-time, 10-month teaching position. Typical working hours are 8:00am-3:30pm Mon-Thur, and 8:00am-2:00pm on Fridays.
