Cambridge Friends School has an opening for a mixed-age, first- and second-grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This teacher will co-teach with a part-time first- and second-grade teacher.

A successful candidate will carry out all responsibilities necessary to teach in our small, inclusive school, including but not limited to the following: documenting curriculum, developing lesson plans, differentiated instruction, managing the classroom and behavior, communicating with families, and participating richly and fully in the life of the School. Candidates should have a bachelor’s in education or a related field (master’s preferred) and experience teaching Lower School-aged students.

Job Requirments:

• Experience teaching elementary school children
• Knowledgeable and appreciative of the developmental needs of 8-10-year-old children
• Able to use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all ability levels
• Knowledge of and familiarity with Reading and Writing Workshop models
• Knowledge of and familiarity with Investigations in Numbers, Data, and Space
• Working knowledge of project-based learning
• Ability and desire to challenge and support students at all levels
• Proficiency with the purposeful use of digital technologies
• Demonstrable strong classroom management
• Familiarity with the use of formative assessments to inform instruction
• Committed to collaborating and working as part of a team
• Familiarity with Responsive Classroom and Restorative Justice practices
• Able to communicate effectively with parents, both in person and in writing 
• Committed to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, antiracist, antihomophobic, equitable learning environment for all students
• A willingness to understand and incorporate relevant Quaker practices and pedagogy
