Development Associate, Major and Leadership Giving

CA seeks a Development Associate, Major and Leadership Giving (Development Associate) who will play an integral role in the success of the school’s Major and Leadership Gifts and Planned Giving programs. In this full-time and in-person position, The Development Associate will also provide critical prospect coordination and administrative support to the Major and Leadership Giving. This position will interface with CA’s highest-level stakeholders, both internally and externally. Two other key responsibilities include producing prospect briefings and coordinating office travel as well as related stewardship and events for the Advancement and Engagement office. The Development Associate must work cooperatively with a wide variety of colleagues and external constituencies, including CA leadership, faculty, staff, alums, and parents to execute strategies and work toward overall organizational goals.


Prospect Coordination and Administrative Support:

  • Draft and coordinate the confidential briefing materials and related travel for development-related travel and events both on campus and domestically.
  • Establish and maintain office filing and database system (RaisersEdge/NXT) for prospect files, donor giving figures, contact reports itineraries, and tracking updates for the Director of Major and Planned Giving.
  • Prepare materials for frontline fundraisers.
  • Perform general office support duties, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, maintaining appointments and calendars, arranging travel, ordering supplies, tracking expenses, screening and directing phone calls, and processing school paperwork. Attend office meetings with and/or in place of Major Gift officers.
  • Attend confidential prospect review meetings with Advancement and Engagement members and school leadership, assistance with prospect correspondence and the preparation of reports.

Advancement and Engagement Events:

  • Assist with all phases of planning, execution, and follow-up of Advancement and Engagement events. Attend events. Communication includes direct contact with high-level donors, preparing and disseminating event materials, working with faculty speakers, working with outside vendors, and managing logistics. Tasks include: booking space, catering, tracking registrations, running nametags, staffing speakers, preparing materials (invites, speaker gifts, etc.), tracking event timelines, communicating with colleagues regarding events. Includes post event follow-up and tracking, next steps and outreach. Events will be hosted throughout the United States in coordination with the Advancement and Engagement office.
  • Assist the Director of Major and Planned Giving and Senior Major Gift Officer with pipeline development and lead generation as requested. Using tools including RaisersEdge/NXT, LinkedIn, institutional annual reports, and other resources to creatively identify potential new high-capacity prospects.
  • Perform data pulls and analysis focused on existing prospect pools, helping the Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving and Senior Major Gift Officer to review and interpret data efficiently and accurately. This includes reports on giving, assets, interactions, and other related prospect data.

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in a complex development setting.
  • Understanding of CA’s mission and goals, and the ability to articulate the school’s values and importance in the independent school landscape.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer software and strong familiarity with RaisersEdge/NXT.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and high level of discretion. Must be highly organized and able to manage confidential information. Excellent project management skills and follow through
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment involving high-level stakeholders; ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both in person, over the phone, and virtually
