About the Position:

Tabor Academy, an independent boarding school in Marion, MA, is seeking an innovative and dedicated Computer Science teacher to enrich our academic community. This role involves teaching foundational courses and advanced electives in Computer Science to high school students. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and education, with a focus on creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking. The candidate must have proficiency in Python and be familiar with Numpy, SciPy, Matplotlib, and TensorFlow.

As part of our faculty, you will have the opportunity to engage students not only in the classroom but also in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. This position offers the potential for residential duties and involves contributions to the school’s vibrant community through evening and weekend supervisory responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement curriculum that covers essential concepts in Computer Science, ranging from programming to computational thinking.
  • Encourage a classroom environment that is both challenging and supportive, helping students to develop their problem-solving skills and understanding of core computer science principles.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate interdisciplinary approaches into the curriculum.
  • Participate actively in the school community, including advising students, supporting co-curricular activities, and contributing to evening and weekend programming.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the educational philosophy of Tabor Academy.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of current educational technology and show a willingness to incorporate these tools into teaching practices.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Have experience in managing a classroom and creating a dynamic learning environment.
  • Show a high degree of cultural competency and an ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Engage in the broader school life, participating in community events and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, applied mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Preferred: Teaching experience at the secondary level and familiarity with innovative educational practices.
  • Additional certifications related to educational technology or Computer Science are a plus.
