Camp Counselor

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Head counselors must be at least 18 and have at least one year of college experience  OR one year of work experience after high school 
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a camp or school setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults
  • Ability to develop and implement activities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Available to attend a three day training session June 18-June 20th
  • Available 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday, June 24th-August 16th 
    • At least a 4 week commitment is preffered
  • Energetic and Positve Attitude
  • Likes fun!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily management of a single group of campers in a specific age group
  • Manage direct and effective communication with parents and camper groups
  • Provide a creative curriculum for campers based on weekly themes
  • Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of the camp day
  • Support specialists in leading camp activities
  • Nurture and support the individual needs of campers
  • Responsible for knowing the location of all campers and group counselors in the group at all times
  • Ensure the camp group is a fun, safe environment for children
  • Complete and submit weekly planning sheets on time
  • Prepare for and actively participate in weekly staff meetings and pre-camp training
  • The Passport Director and Assistant Director may assign additional responsibilities throughout the summer. Flexibility is important

 

Job Requirements:

Must be physically able to perform all Passport Summer Camp duties.  The physical activity of this position includes:

  • Walking
  • Hiking
  • Swimming
  • Standing and sitting on the floor
  • Tolerating various temperature ranges
