Job Description

 

Overview:

 

The Fenn School seeks a part-time (0.5 FTE) Assistant Director of Secondary School Counseling to begin on July 1, 2024. The position could be a full-time role if the candidate has the interest and background to teach, advise, or coach. This individual supports the Director of Secondary School Counseling in helping Fenn students and families as they navigate the secondary school admission process and transition to their next school. A successful candidate will be highly organized and communicative, collaborative and proactive, support the mission of the School, and work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.  

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the Director of Secondary School Counseling in leading and executing Fenn’s Secondary School Counseling program

 

  • Support student application and teacher recommendation process

 

  • In collaboration with the Director of Secondary School Counseling, plan for and host events such as the Secondary School Forum, Fall and Spring Informational Coffees, and presentations for the Parents Association and Board of Trustees

 

  • Meet with students and families

 

  • Write advocacy letters and attend advocacy meetings

 

  • Some local travel is required to maintain relationships with secondary schools

 

  • Depending on the candidate’s interest and experience and school needs, the position could also include teaching, advising, and coaching, which would expand it to full-time 

 

  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working in secondary school admissions or secondary school counseling preferred

 

  • Proficiency with technology

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required 

 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

  • Highly organized 

 

  • Experience with and passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work in a school setting

 

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues
