The Assistant Director of Admissions will have responsibility in the following areas: development and execution of the admissions process; travel on behalf of the school to further build market share and assist in the development of new geographic markets; stewarding assigned families through the admissions process and overseeing efforts to yield assigned students that are accepted.  Fully engaged in the enrollment cycle, this position includes interviewing candidates, reading application files and participating in the admissions committee process.  This role also carries the expectation of contribution to the school community beyond admissions, with specific responsibilities as an advisor, coach and dorm parent. Requisite characteristics include strong organizational skills, enthusiasm to work with students and parents, and a willingness to travel on behalf of the school. This role reports to the Dean of Admissions and Enrollment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Enrollment:
    • Responsible for participating in all aspects of the recruitment and admissions process
    • Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students and families and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the application and admissions process
    • Conduct admissions interviews with candidates and parents
    • Review and evaluate admissions applicants as a member of the Admissions Committee
    • Maintain contact and cultivate relationships with your interviewees (students/parents) throughout the application process


  • Representing Lawrence Academy:
    • Communicate the mission, vision, values, and curriculum to prospective students and families at the time of interview, at fairs, and other functions
    • Manage school fairs and travel calendar
  • Assist the Admissions Team with admissions related events (open houses, receptions, revisit days, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel international and domestically 4-6 weeks throughout the calendar year


  • Sustaining and Building Lawrence Academy’s market and presence:
    • Work with the Dean of Enrollment and Admissions to identify and initiate targeted efforts for particular markets or grades


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3+ years of admissions experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Veracross and Microsoft Office Suite Workspace a plus
  • Experience developing, cultivating, and maintaining relationships
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations, verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Project management, marketing and presentation skills
  • Must hold a valid US driver’s license
  • Ability to adapt and respond to various situations
  • Successfully complete required background checks


General Duties

  • Serve as an advisor
  • Coach the equivalent of one season
  • Perform evening/weekend duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Work Conditions

  • Sitting, standing, walking and working on a computer
  • Coaching or afternoon activity may require being outdoors
  • Driving a minibus for school activities may be required
