 Position Summary:  Falmouth Academy is seeking a part-time photography instructor for the 2024-25 school year. Preferred candidates will have a solid background in digital & film photography, as well as experience working in a school setting.  Responsibilities include teaching six to eight 65-minute classes per week, attending at least two arts dept meetings per year, and the annual spring art show in May.  Classes meet from 10-12:30 on a rotating six-day schedule. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach six to eight elective classes per six-day rotation, one to two classes per day.  This includes but is not limited to teaching, preparing syllabus, ordering inventory, set up, class prep, supervising clean up, and corresponding with students.
  • Teach After-School Photo Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-4:30 PM
  • In conjunction with the arts chair & facilities manager ensure that all aspects of the dark room comply with current life safety codes and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records
  • Evaluate, grade, and enter students’ performance grades three times per year
  • Working in conjunction with other studio arts faculty maintain gallery space throughout the school, including planning, hanging, taking down, and maintaining gallery spaces.
  • In conjunction with the arts chair plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and instruction methods.
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs.
  • Maintain darkroom to the safety procedures and protocols as issued by Falmouth Academy.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Arts Chair.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in related subject areas.
  • Three years of experience in a comparable environment with a proven record of success.
  • Experience with darkroom procedures and protocols.
  • Extensive experience with digital photo equipment, cameras, printing, Adobe Photoshop, and photo editing.
  • Good people skills and a collaborative attitude are a must.
