Position Summary: Falmouth Academy is seeking a full-time Athletic Director/Health and PE Teacher to join a dynamic dedicated team of educational professionals. Preferred candidates will have a strong background in athletics, health, and physical education, demonstrated success working with young people in the athletic arena, and ideally, experience administering a major school program. The position starts on approximately August 12, 2024.
Essential Duties
- Develop, manage, and supervise developmentally appropriate athletic and PE programs in line with the School’s overall educational mission and goals and accessible to all students
- Represent Falmouth Academy in all league and athletic associations, and attend all meetings
- Schedule all middle school, junior varsity, and varsity games/meets for the School’s teams.
- Ensure that all coaching positions are filled with competent and properly trained coaches
- Maintain equipment inventory to support all programs
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate all coaches
- Prepare and implement the annual departmental budget
- Secure qualified officials for each home game/meet
- Ensure that all student-athletes have turned in required forms/paperwork
- Attend all home athletic contests as game administrator, including evening basketball games and the occasional weekend game.
- Teach the equivalent of 1 class/day of health and physical education
- Coach one sport
- Participate in school evaluation and professional development programs
- Advise students on academic and other matters in accordance with the School’s mission
- Participate in some infrequent evening or weekend activities, including meetings, professional development, or other school activities
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and parents
- Enthusiastic interest in teaching, motivating, coaching, and mentoring middle and high school students
- Ability to meet classroom, advisory, and extracurricular obligations
- Ability to attend meetings before and after the normal school day schedule and sometimes in the evening
- Ability to comply with the requirements of a standard nine-to-five workweek and to meet co-curricular responsibilities before and after the normal daily/weekly schedule as required
