Pingree School seeks a Writing Center Director and English Teacher beginning in the  2023-2024 academic year.  The ideal candidate will have a degree in the field, a minimum of three years of experience working in a school environment, and enjoy working with students on writing, reading, and critical thinking skills. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage the day to day operations of the Writing Center throughout the academic day and after school 
  • Supervise Writing Center Peer Tutors 
  • Meet individually with students for support with writing and citations
  • Develop and lead writing and citation workshops 
  • Edit student publications
  • Develop programming and work with faculty on the writing process
  • Teach up to two sections of English each trimester 

Successful candidates will demonstrate an eagerness to work closely with students to help them develop their own voices and ideas through writing; they should also be comfortable providing feedback on written work across the disciplines. We seek candidates who convey passion for a diversity of literature and dedication to the writing process, who are comfortable with new classroom technologies as appropriate, and who will build a good rapport with students. There may also be an opportunity to work with students on the literary magazine. The Writing Center and English teacher will join the Educational Resources department and the English department and be supervised by the Director of the ERC and the Chair of the English Department.
