The Park School is a Pre-K to Grade 8 independent school in Brookline, MA dedicated to excellence in education. The Park School seeks a dynamic, flexible,  patient, and technologically adept Modern Language Teacher to teach Mandarin in a one year leave coverage position.  The Modern Language Teacher is a member of the School’s Upper Division and reports to the Head of the Upper Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background teaching Mandarin to middle school-aged students as well as experience creating projects that make language come alive for students.


Roles & Responsibilities
  • Teach four sections of Mandarin in Grades 5-8
  • Serve as an Upper Division Advisor
  • Participate in the school community, including faculty and committee work, weekly school duties, and activities
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of the relationship between curriculum, subject matter, and child development
  • Implements creative and innovative curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Uses technology tools to advance student learning and growth
  • Differentiates instruction
  • Fosters a classroom environment where students feel comfortable to take risks, make
  • mistakes, and be curious
  • Works in partnership with students and their families
  • Strong interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and other adults; team skills, such as lesson planning with others
  • Strong communication skills, including experience in writing student comments and other school-related documents
  • Interest in professional development, including MaFLA and ACTFL events
  • Experience teaching cultural topics in a project-based learning curriculum
  • Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value of the School and classroom learning
  • Previous experience and/or interest in athletic coaching or supporting student-led clubs organizations and events
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience at the middle school level.
