Visual Arts Teacher: High School

Landmark High School seeks a full-time Instructor in Studio Art to begin in August of 2022. Strong candidates will hold a degree in visual arts and be practicing artist-educators who have demonstrated skill and experience teaching high-school students in studio foundations. We seek dynamic candidates who will be active participants not only in the academic day program but also in the after-school art and residential programs. 

 

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present materials, demonstrations, and lessons to students in grades 9-12
  • Teach six studio art classes
  • Utilize inclusive classroom best practices
  • Assess student performance and issue academic grades and comments quarterly
  • Integrate educational technology to enhance instruction, as appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Attend faculty and departmental meetings and trainings
  • Participate in New Faculty Training, beginning Monday, August 8, 2022

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach 6 periods (see above)
  • Run the high school’s After School Art program (Monday-Thursday, 3:15 to 4:45)
  • Weekend residential coverage commensurate with middle-management level position and years of service. Milkbreak and lunch coverage as assigned.
  • Attend weekly residential team meetings
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a strong background in drawing and painting and experience utilizing the Adobe Suite
  • Candidates should possess significant personal experience with studio arts media and the ability to teach studio arts foundations classes across drawing, painting, mixed media, and ceramics/sculpture disciplines.
  • Candidates with experience in photography and digital imaging are preferred
  • Candidates must have Massachusetts teaching licensure in Visual Arts (5-12) or Moderate Disabilities (5-12), or be willing to enroll in a fully subsidized Boston University Master’s degree program at Landmark.
