The Derryfield School, the premier independent day school in Southern New Hampshire, is a coeducational,
independent day school located on 84 acres in Manchester, serving nearly 400 students in grades 6-12, inspiring bright,
motivated young people to be their best and providing them with the skills and experiences needed to be valued,
dynamic, confident, and purposeful members of any community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the English Teacher:
● Teach 4 Upper School Level English courses.
● Advise 6-8 students.
● Coach 2 seasons or the equivalent.
● Assist students daily with study skills.
● Inspire meaningful exploration of literature and writing.

GENERAL Skills/Knowledge/Aptitudes:
● Bachelor’s Degree, (preference for a master’s degree in subject matter).
● Energetic, patient and inspiring teacher and leader.
● Successful classroom teaching experience and experience with implementing technology and multimedia in the classroom.
Demonstrable computer literacy skills.
● Knowledge of and/or experience in independent schools.
● Clear alignment with institutional objectives, strategies and goals.
● Highly collaborative and team-oriented style.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
● Excellent organizational skills and experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines (e.g. student comments, grades).
● A proven commitment to the development of young people as individual learners.
● A commitment to developing in students character, global citizenship and an appreciation of people from diverse
backgrounds.
● Interest in curriculum development within and across disciplines.
