Job Summary: 

BB&N is seeking a full-time Upper School Woodworking and 3D Design Teacher to cover a leave of absence. Primary responsibilities include teaching BB&N’s established woodworking courses from March 1 – May 26, 2023. The Woodworking and 3D Design Teacher collaborates closely with colleagues in the Arts Department and attends regular department and faculty meetings.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and an educational background in woodworking and 3D design. An undergraduate degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred. Preference will be given to teachers with 3-5 years of experience teaching at the high school level.

In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience with craft-based furniture design and sculpture;
  • Ability to incorporate a broad range of traditional and non-traditional methods, materials, tools, and technology in the intersection of 3D design, craft, and function;
  • Knowledge of contemporary and historically relevant sculpture and design styles to support curriculum development, student engagement, and student self-expression;
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain studio equipment and tools to create a safe and inclusive working environment;
  • Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community;
  • Enthusiasm for working with adolescents;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, faculty, and staff;
  • Strong communications skills through writing, speaking, and listening;
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment;
  • Understand and exhibit high standards of professional conduct.
