Job Summary:
The Upper School (Grades 6-8) Science Teacher supports the fundamental educational mission of the school by stewarding the academic and socioemotional growth of a diverse group of students as a teacher and advisor.

Key Objectives:
- Plan, organize, implement, and supervise a developmentally appropriate Upper School Science program.
- Provide appropriate differentiation to support individual learners in the classroom.
- Develop positive relationships with children and their families through both verbal and written means.
- Collaborate with colleagues to learn, implement, and innovate the Shore curriculum.
- Assess the development and needs of individual children on a regular basis and communicate progress to caregivers and the Head of Upper School.
- Maintain necessary records and documentation about student behavior and progress.
- Engage in professional responsibilities that include collaborating effectively with colleagues, participating in pertinent employee meetings, performing necessary duties, and keeping abreast of current research and practices in reading, child development, and equity and inclusion.
- Apply culturally responsive pedagogy techniques to create a strong sense of safety, belonging, and learning engagement for every student.
Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Strong proficiency with culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Strong organizational skills and innovative thinking.
- Knowledge of current curricular and instructional practices.
- Ability to use technology in support of teaching.
- Ability to effectively listen, respond, and present information to students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability, experience, and interest in coaching athletics are considered a bonus.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $100,000 – This salary represents the expected annual salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining compensation, we’ll consider your education level, experience, and other job-related factors.
