Upper School Drawing and Painting Teacher

The Milton Academy Visual Arts Department seeks a drawing and painting teacher and studio foundations instructor to cover for a one-year sabbatical leave in the 2022-2023 school year, with duties beginning in September 2022.

Candidates must have a strong background in drawing and painting and have experience teaching the Advanced Placement Studio Art Portfolio. Candidates should possess general experience with studio arts media and the ability to teach studio arts foundations classes across drawing, design, painting, ceramics and/or sculpture and photography/digital-imaging. Candidates should also have a lively interest in pedagogy, innovative uses of technology, and the most contemporary trends in art creation.

Candidates will be expected to embrace educational themes that define Milton Academy. These include commitments to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, to academic excellence, and to the value of individuality in the context of community. Additional duties may include advising a student activity and/or coaching a team sport or intramural athletics, and serving on faculty committees.

Practicing artists with experience teaching art at the secondary school level and who hold a degree in visual arts are preferred.
