Position Summary for Structured Literacy Tutor K-6, Part-time (Fee-for-Service Position)

Brimmer and May is seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and experienced in-person tutor for the 2021-2022 school year. This individual will provide individualized support to students with diverse learning profiles in grades K-6. Successful candidates should have experience providing d6irect instruction in decoding, spelling, fluency, reading comprehension, writing and study skills. Ideally, candidates should also have training and experience working with students who have language-based learning disabilities, as well as experience teaching students with executive functioning vulnerabilities. The candidate needs to be able to work collaboratively with teachers and communicate effectively with parents about student needs and progress, under the guidance of the Lower School Director of Academic Services. A master’s degree in special education and/or certification in Orton-Gillingham (or Orton-Gillingham based approach) is required. In most cases, tutoring sessions would take place virtually before or after school (e.g., prior to 8 a.m. or after 3 p.m.), though there may a possibility of scheduling some sessions within the school day. Position Summary For Humanities Tutors Grades 6-12,  Part Time, (Fee for Service Position)

Brimmer and May is seeking committed, enthusiastic, and experienced in-person tutors for the 2021-2022 school year. Qualified tutors will provide individualized support to students with diverse learning profiles in grades 6-12 in the areas of reading and writing,  as well as the development of study skills and time management.  Successful candidates should have experience providing direct instruction to students with Dyslexia, ADHD and Language Based Learning Disabilities as well as experience teaching students with executive functioning vulnerabilities. The candidate needs to be able to work collaboratively with teachers and communicate effectively with parents about student needs and progress, under the guidance of the Middle and Upper School Director of Academic Services. A degree in education, speech and language or other education related fields is requested.  In most cases, tutoring sessions would take place in person or virtually during the school day. Position Summary for Math Tutors, part-time (Fee-for-Service Positions)

Brimmer and May is seeking committed, enthusiastic, and experienced mathematics tutors to provide individualized support to students with diverse learning profiles in grades K-12. Successful K-5 tutoring candidates should have experience with the EnVision and Investigations Math curriculums, as well as experience approaching math concepts using multiple strategies. Successful 6-12 tutoring candidates should have a deep understanding of the teaching of math concepts to students with learning differences. Middle School tutors should have experience teaching Pre-Algebra and Algebra. We seek Upper School tutors with experience in all levels of Geometry, Algebra, Calculus and Statistics. In addition, candidates should ideally have training and experience working with students who have language-based learning disabilities, as well as experience teaching students with executive functioning vulnerabilities and attention deficits. Candidates needs to be able to work collaboratively with teachers and communicate effectively with parents about student needs and progress, under the guidance of the Directors of Academic Services.
