Third Grade Teacher

The Village School of North Bennington has an anticipated opening for a skilled and energetic Third Grade Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining a classroom of high standards for respect and student achievement, with a strong focus on both modeling and cultivating a growth mindset. The ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, support staff, administration, and interventionists to provide engaging and differentiated learning opportunities for all students is essential.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY DUTIES:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, activities, and assessments to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of students
- Support the social-emotional needs of children, guided by the use of trauma-informed practices
- Monitor and guide classroom behavior in accordance with the VSNB Constitution: “Be Safe; Be Kind; Be Respectful; and Have Fun”
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for specific students, in conjunction with the Special Educator and Support Staff
- Demonstrate current best practices in teaching and learning within a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Incorporate place-based education into the curriculum whenever possible
- Work collaboratively with interventionists and the Special Educator to provide engaging and differentiated learning opportunities for all students
- Participate as a member of student Educational Support Teams (ESTs) and assist with 504 meetings, as needed
- Develop and maintain a relationship with each child that ensures the child knows they are cared for and valued
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to ensure that each child’s experience at the school reflects a coordinated plan to maximize the opportunities for personal and educational growth
- Develop and maintain positive partnerships with families as an important aspect of ensuring students’ personal and educational growth
- Commit to ongoing professional development, continually learning and developing enhanced pedagogical skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- Experience working with elementary school students is required
- Previous teaching experience or student teaching experience is strongly preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates with Fundations, Wilson, or other evidence-based literacy program
- Experience with Lexia and Aimsweb, preferred but not required
- Experience with Eureka Math is helpful but not required, as training will be provided
- Must be able to pass a series of state-required background checks, including fingerprinting
