Cambridge Friends School has an opening for a mixed-age, third- and fourth-grade parental leave teacher for March – June 2025.
Cambridge Friends School is dedicated to providing an outstanding education guided by Quaker principles. A successful candidate will carry out all responsibilities necessary to teach in our small, inclusive school, including but not limited to the following: documenting curriculum, developing lesson plans, differentiated instruction, managing the classroom and behavior, communicating with families, and participating richly and fully in the life of the School. Candidates should have a bachelor’s in education or a related field (master’s preferred) and experience teaching Lower School-aged students.

Job Requirements:
- Experience teaching elementary school children
- Knowledgeable and appreciative of the developmental needs of 8-10-year-old children
- Able to use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all ability levels
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Reading and Writing Workshop models
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Investigations in Numbers, Data, and Space
- Working knowledge of project-based learning
- Ability and desire to challenge and support students at all levels
- Proficiency with the purposeful use of digital technologies
- Demonstrable strong classroom management
- Familiarity with the use of formative assessments to inform instruction
- Committed to collaborating and working as part of a team
- Familiarity with Responsive Classroom and Restorative Justice practices
- Able to communicate effectively with parents, both in person and in writing
- Committed to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, antiracist, antihomophobic, equitable learning environment for all students
- A willingness to understand and incorporate relevant Quaker practices and pedagogy
