Position Summary:

The Teacher Assistant will assist in all classroom activities as directed by the classroom teacher. This person will also support coverage of classes as necessary.  The Assistant will also assist in other responsibilities as directed by the team leader & Division Head. 

The Afterschool Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Afterschool Director in the seamless operation and success of our afterschool program. This individual serves as a key liaison between the director, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to meet the program’s goals and objectives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching Assistance / Classroom Support:
    • Prepare and organize the classroom environment.
    • Make materials for classroom instruction.
    • Work with students individually as directed by the classroom teacher.
    • Sub in classes when teachers are out.
    • Participate in recess and lunch duties.
    • Assist in other responsibilities as directed by team leader & Division Head.

 

  • Afterschool Program Coordination:
    • Student Engagement and Support:
      • Engage students in high quality, safe, & varied enrichment programming after school.
      • Address individual student needs and behavior management concerns in a timely and constructive manner, collaborating with staff and families as necessary.
    • Program Coordination:
      • Assist the Enrichment Director in the development and implementation of comprehensive afterschool programming, including weekly off-campus excursions on Fridays.
      • Manage student and staff checks-ins each day. Maintain accurate attendance records. 
      • Coordinate daily activities and schedules, including being a point person for staff during program hours, managing resources.
    • Family Engagement:
      • At daily parent pick-up, build relationships with families keeping them informed & involved in their children’s afterschool experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Previous experience working in afterschool programs, youth development, or related educational settings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Proficiency in Google suite
  • Willingness to learn about students with learning differences
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
