Kents Hill School is one of the oldest co-ed boarding schools in the country, located on 400 beautiful acres in Maine. Students also have the opportunity to explore their passions in athletics and the arts, and develop leadership potential with over 30 clubs and activities.

Position Overview 

This position, with a start date of August 15, 2022, will join a strong STEAM Division looking to expand its technology offerings as well as formally integrate technology and engineering principles into current class offerings across the entire curriculum. This full-time teaching position will also advise a group of students, actively participate in the residential life program, and assist with extracurricular activities.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about teaching students and sharing their love for technology integration. Willing to co-create and teach a digital citizenship/fluency curriculum and work alongside grade-level teams in the assessment of student progress in digital literacy and technology.
  • Excited to actively collaborate in the 4D curriculum through course design, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • Committed to developing in all Kents Hill students the kinds of sophisticated problem-solving and critical-thinking strategies needed for success beyond secondary education.
  • Committed to attending regular divisional, grade-level, and subject-area meetings to provide support and guidance surrounding technology integration. Remain current on, and share information about, pedagogy and educational technology trends as well as the impact those trends might have on students and parents.
  • Culturally competent with skills for engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. 
  • Able to teach a variety of STEAM Division courses through the incorporation of real-world applications and collaborate with faculty to plan the integration of STEAM throughout the school.
  • Knowledgeable of diverse programming languages leading to tangible student outcomes such as web pages, 3D printing and fabrication, animation, games, and apps.
  • Committed to the entire student experience and want to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Typically, this includes:
    • Living in a dorm faculty residence and participating in all aspects of dorm life.
    • Advising a group of students.
    • Coaching or assistant coaching for two athletic seasons or running other afternoon activities programs.
  • Have a Master’s Degree or a Bachelor’s and significant teaching experience in STEM-related fields.
