Position Overview

Wellan Montessori School is seeking a passionate educator to provide focused student support in our Lower Elementary program (Grades 1-3). This position is available immediately on a full time schedule Monday through Friday from 7:30am – 3:00pm. Open to part-time schedule if necessary.  

The Special Education Aide provides individualized student support while working closely with Classroom Teachers to ensure that learning standards are met. The Special Education Aide must excel at taking shared responsibility for creating and maintaining an appropriately challenging and supportive learning environment for children with disabilities/special education needs. Additional responsibilities may include: facilitating student lessons and activities, modifying lessons and/or work, communicating with families, tracking IEP goal progress, and implementing health and safety protocols.

Successful candidates will be patient, well organized, flexible, professional, and dependable; have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to function in a cooperative teaching environment; and be able to collaborate with other educators in our community to create an environment where children learn, socialize, explore, and grow together. 

Position Details

• Full-time preferred: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm
• Part-time available: Minimum of 20 hours per week Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 12:00pm

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of relevant experience required. 
• Experience working in special education. 
• Experience working in a Montessori environment preferred. 
• Bachelor’s degree or beyond in Special Education or a related field preferred.
• Candidates pursuing education, licensure, or training in Special Education are also encouraged to apply. 
• Letter of interest/cover letter, resume, and at least three references are required to be considered for this position.
