Chapel Hill – Chauncy Hall School, Waltham, MA

The Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School is seeking a creative, progressively minded, and hard-working individual to teach Skills and Academic Strategies classes and work in our co-curricular program.  Our SAS department focuses on helping students develop executive function and self-advocacy skills, as well as a deeper understanding of themselves as a learner.  As a school that embraces Multiple Intelligences philosophy and a differentiated instruction pedagogy, we seek teachers who work diligently to reach all learners and believe, as we do, that it is not “how smart you are” but rather “how you are smart.”  This position involves teaching four or five classes with four students per class, as well as participating in one or two seasons of our co-curricular program (depending on teaching load).

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • A creative and progressive approach to teaching and learning
  • Willingness to work hard and have fun
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with adolescents
  • A working understanding of Multiple Intelligences philosophy & Differentiated Instruction pedagogy
  • Experience providing academic support to students with mild learning differences
  • An academic background, and potentially a graduate degree, in special education
  • Commitment to advancing the School’s efforts toward diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in all areas of school life
  • Ability to contribute positively to our co-curricular program particularly in athletics
