Senior Camp Counselor

Lesley Ellis is an independent school (Preschool – Grade 8) in Arlington, MA seeks candidates with enthusiasm for working with children and a sense of adventure for the summer. We are looking for individuals who will contribute to a high quality indoor and outdoor recreation experience for our campers.


  • Help write and implement a weekly schedule for assigned group.
  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, etc. appropriate to the children’s age range
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Communicate with parents about the children’s experiences and report concerns to Summer Program supervisor.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the summer program.
  • Serve as a positive role model and participate enthusiastically in all aspects of the program.
  • Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of supplies, equipment and facilities. .
  • Demonstrate respect for diversity among all staff and students. Promote an atmosphere which values diversity.
  • Engage in collegial conversations and collaborative curriculum building to support an inclusive, anti-racist and anti-bias environment.


  • Experience with children age 3 to grade 8 preferred
  • Coursework in education preferred
  • Commitment to a developmental and anti-bias education
  • Must have completed 1 year old college or equivalent life experience.

Summer 2024 position. Camp dates are June 10 – August 9. Some flexibility in schedule available. Competitive hourly salary.
