Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach eight classes over three terms; work with students in independent, project-based work.
  • Collaborate with teachers in other disciplines to create an integrated curriculum.
  • Confer regularly with students and write detailed reports on student performance and cognitive growth.
  • Lead afternoon and/or evening activities in arts, athletics, or another area of expertise.
  • Serve as a dorm parent and advise 6-8 students.

Position Benefits:

  • Salary range of $44,500 to $82,430, depending on experience.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will have earned a four-year college degree and will have worked for at least three years, building professional experience that can be directly applied in this position. Candidates must have general knowledge of physical and earth science, experience with or willingness to develop proficiency in the electrical and magnetic aspects of teaching high school science, and a capacity for or interest in teaching astronomy. We expect candidates to be inquisitive, interested in educational design, engaged by Putney’s mission and creative ethos, excellent communicators, technologically nimble, energetic, and initiative-taking self-starters.
