About HMS 

High Mowing School, established in 1942, is home to over 300 Preschool – Grade 12 day and boarding students. We have approximately 130 high school students, with about half boarding.  We are committed to fostering a caring, respectful, and diverse community where academic success, personal growth, and social responsibility are highly valued and fostered. HMS is set on a hilltop among rolling farmland in scenic southern New Hampshire on 300+ acres and close to Boston, the seacoast, and mountainous recreational areas.

About the Position

The school nurse plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of our students, fostering a healthy environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This weekend/flex position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, with on-call responsibilities to ensure students receive timely and compassionate care when they need it most. Combining professional expertise with ethical, evidence-based practices, the school nurse safeguards and promotes student health, encourages holistic development, and bridges healthcare with education. As an advocate for student-centered care, the nurse supports the unique needs of our Waldorf community, helping to create a nurturing and vibrant school experience.

Essential Duties

• Performs nursing functions including but not limited to the following:
  • Medication administration and wound care
  • Triage including both initial and ongoing assessment of patients
  • Care management and appointments  
  • Health records management and immunizations 
• Administering of school health services
• Implementation of communicable disease control program
• Ensures adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, while upholding the guidelines outlined in the school’s handbook and policies

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) currently licensed in the State of NH
• Minimum Nursing Experience:  1-3 years of adult med/surg,  orthopedic, school, or pediatric nursing
• Current BLS certification

• Eligible for certification/certified as a school nurse by the NH DOE
