Position Summary: St. Mark’s School (Southborough, MA) seeks a Recruitment Operations Coordinator for the 2023-24 academic year to manage faculty recruitment and support our efforts to build an adult community that reflects the diversity of our student body. Successful candidates will demonstrate the skills necessary to manage and communicate with a high volume of applicants and work collaboratively with members of the Dean of Faculty office and hiring team. The position also includes teaching two classes and contributing to St. Mark’s vibrant boarding school community through advising, residential life responsibilities, and community responsibilities. The Recruitment Operations Coordinator is a member of the Dean of Faculty Office and reports to the Assistant Head/ Dean of Faculty.

What You’ll Do as the Recruitment Operations Coordinator: 

As the Recruitment Operations Coordinator, you will work closely with the Dean of Faculty Office to attract and retain best-in-class faculty. This includes, but is not limited to, heading the review and management of faculty applications, creating job descriptions, and hosting candidates for finalist visits. Other key responsibilities are as follows: 

 

  • Work with the Associate Dean of Faculty for Equity and Inclusion to ensure St. Mark’s continued commitment to equitable and inclusive hiring practices
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of the Farmer UPenn Fellowship and the Associate Dean of Faculty for Equity and Inclusion to recruit, interview, and onboard two teaching fellows per year
  • Exercise creative vision to develop and pilot practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of St. Mark’s hiring practices
  • Oversee, strengthen, and develop professional relationships with placement agencies, professional education associations (AISNE, TABS, etc.), graduate schools, and universities
  • Partner with the Facilities Department to coordinate newly hired faculty’s move to campus housing (if applicable) 

 

What You’ll Do as a St. Mark’s Faculty Member: 

As a St. Mark’s faculty member, you will teach two academic courses, advise three to seven students, attend all school and faculty required events, and coach two seasons of sports. Other key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Supervise a dorm during evening hours once weekly and five Saturdays per year
  • Participate in community life through Social Duty (four weekends per year)
  • Give up to six admission tours per year
  • Participate in St. Mark’s Experiential Learning Programming

  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with computer applications such as Google Suite including Docs, Slides, and Sheets
  • Ability to craft clear, well-written communications 
  • Solution-oriented thinker who can tackle problems with little or no direction

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Two or more years of hiring or recruiting experience
  • Two or more years of teaching or equivalent experience
  • Experience in an educational setting, including familiarity with residential communities and the needs of adolescents 
  • Demonstrated success in working with culturally diverse populations as well as a demonstrated commitment to inclusive pedagogy
  • Commitment to continuous self-reflection and professional growth

Salary: 

  • Pay is commensurate with experience. For reference, please find the base salary bands for faculty members whose primary responsibilities are in the classroom below: 
  • Years of experience between 31 and 42 years: $84,240 – $94,340
  • Years of experience between 21 and 30 years: $65,000 – $83,752
  • Years of experience between 11 and 20 years: $52,000 – $63,200
  • Years of experience between 0 and 10 years: $27,000 – $50,700
