Position Overview and Responsibilities

The part-time Recreational Sports Coordinator is responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive Recreational Sports program. In collaboration with the Wellness Department, this position supports overseeing all aspects of the Recreational Sports Program, including program development, scheduling, and training. Provides leadership, management, and supervision for assigned campus facilities and personnel. This individual will serve as a supervisor of individuals proctoring different events. The Coordinator will serve as a primary safety and risk manager for areas of oversight for the programs and spend time working with students to ensure a successful student experience.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, the ability to work effectively cross-functionally, and multi-tasking capabilities. 
  • Ability to build rapport and connect with students, faculty and staff, and outside providers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and set priorities to perform a high volume of detailed work with regular distractions and interruptions. 
  • Must be able to problem solve. 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-focused environment.
  • Must be passionate about planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs and activities. 
  • Maintain records of student participation.

 

Education and Experience

  •   Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience coordinating and planning student activities.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/sitting for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must reach at and above shoulder height to access higher equipment areas, etc.
  • Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person,  telephone, or video conferencing.
  • Use hands and fingers for manipulation, a computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
