Position Summary
The Primary Teacher (Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten) is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of young children. The teacher fosters curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and joyful classroom environment where every child feels seen, valued, and supported
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood best practices and school philosophy
  • Support students’ social-emotional development, including self-regulation, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions
  • Observe, document, and assess student growth using formative assessments and anecdotal records
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Establish consistent routines and clear expectations to promote independence and confidence
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families through conferences, written reports, and informal check-ins
  • Collaborate closely with teaching team
  • Maintain a well-organized classroom that encourages exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning
  • Model kindness, respect, patience, and enthusiasm for learning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent certification)
  • Experience teaching preschool and/or pre-kindergarten students
  • Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young children and families
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
