Position Summary
The Primary Teacher (Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten) is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of young children. The teacher fosters curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a safe, inclusive, and joyful classroom environment where every child feels seen, valued, and supported
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood best practices and school philosophy
- Support students’ social-emotional development, including self-regulation, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions
- Observe, document, and assess student growth using formative assessments and anecdotal records
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Establish consistent routines and clear expectations to promote independence and confidence
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families through conferences, written reports, and informal check-ins
- Collaborate closely with teaching team
- Maintain a well-organized classroom that encourages exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning
- Model kindness, respect, patience, and enthusiasm for learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent certification)
- Experience teaching preschool and/or pre-kindergarten students
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
- Ability to build positive relationships with young children and families
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
