Lincoln School, founded in 1884, is an independent K-12 Quaker girls’ school in Providence, Rhode Island. We are seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Performing Arts – Acting/Tech Theatre faculty member beginning in August 2022. The position entails teaching a range of Lower, Middle, and Upper School drama classes as well as Upper School technical theatre classes, and working with other members of the department to produce a fall play, a winter musical, a spring 10-minute play festival, and the Grade 8 musical. Lincoln is prioritizing candidates who have experience in the entire scope of the play production process including direction, stage management, and technical theatre.
Qualified candidates will have a strong background in the most up to date and creative approaches in theatre education and a passion for designing curricula that help students develop their creative voices, their confidence, and their communication and collaboration skills. They will embrace and uphold Lincoln’s values of diversity, equity and inclusion, and they will bring anti-racist practices into their classroom.
Applicants should have exemplary pedagogical skills, a passion for teaching and learning from young people, and a love for working with adolescents in all facets of their school experience; in addition to teaching classes at various grade levels, responsibilities may include serving as an advisor as well as supporting students outside of the classroom. Teachers at Lincoln maintain a reflective practice that involves collaboration and critical dialogue with colleagues and division leadership about their teaching.
