
Naturalist

DESCRIPTION:
Oak Meadow School seeks an experienced individual to provide a nature-based, student-led curriculum part-time in the role of Naturalist/Farm Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. This role will lead the school in teaching students ranging in ages from Kindergarten to Middle School about cultivating our existing garden spaces, growing and preparing food, nutrition, the cycles of agriculture, and partnering with middle school teachers on microbusinesses. This position will involve collaboration with all areas of the school, with the following primary responsibilities:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Naturalist will encourage a calm, flexible, organized, responsible, supportive, and harmonious learning environment with the natural world.
- The Naturalist will be a self-motivated individual who will demonstrate emotional intelligence and model life skills to students across Kindergarten through Middle School.
- The Naturalist will lead small groups to observe, guide, supervise and assess the children
- Prior experience with outdoor education (farming, trips, place-based education) and hands-on techniques will be required for this position.
- Develop age appropriate curriculum to support nature-based and student-led lessons
- Support with assorted coverage needs around school

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading and working in an agricultural setting
- Experience with outdoor education
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Teaching experience preferred
