Thayer Academy, Braintree, MA

Thayer Academy seeks qualified Middle School Baseball and Lacrosse Assistant Coaches for the 2024 spring season which runs from approximately March 26th through May 23rd. Coaches are required to be present for practice in the Middle School on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30- 3:45 pm. Games occur on Fridays (ending usually between 5- 6pm) with no commitments on Saturday. This is a part-time, paid position.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Represent Thayer Academy as a role model and coach

  • Plan and lead daily practices and weekly games with a focus on skill development, game strategy, respect, sportsmanship, student safety, and character development

  • Cultivate a positive team culture emphasizing teamwork, resilience, and strong moral character

  • Travel with the team on bus to all games/practices

  • Be responsible for all Thayer Academy equipment following practices and games

  • Ensure that all student-athletes are picked up

  • Effectively communicate with parents, coaching staff, athletic department, and campus security

  • Adhere to all Thayer Athletic Department Policies & Practices and Thayer Employee Handbook policies

 

Qualifications

  • Experience coaching at the appropriate school level

  • Experience designing and implementing daily practice/game plans

  • Passion for working with adolescents, and desire to build relationships

  • Commitment to working in and fostering a safe and inclusive environment

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

  • Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and families

  • CPR/Heads up! Certification

  • Willingness to learn and grow through professional development opportunities
