Middle School Latin Teacher- Family Leave

Thayer Academy, Braintree, MA

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and team-oriented full-time teacher of Latin to provide coverage for long term family leave, roughly from late March to early June. This person reports to the Middle School Director.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Teach 5th, 7th, and 8th Grade Latin

  • Teach 6th Introduction to World Languages

  • Serve as an advisor to 7th Graders

  • Apply practices in classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion and belonging among Thayer Academy community members

  • Engage in ongoing professional development

  • A bachelor’s degree required, Masters (or higher) preferred in Education or Latin or related field

  • 3+ years teaching experience at the Middle School or Secondary School level preferred

  • Experience teaching Latin a Romance language

  • Passion for working with adolescents and desire to build relationships

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community

  • High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting

  • Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and families
