Reports to: Director of Student Support Services and Lower School Director

Job Summary: 

BB&N is seeking a Lower School Counselor to serve the Lower School Community. Responsibilities include coordinating and providing clinical and counseling support services for the students in grades Beginner through 3. The Counselor works closely with faculty, parents, and administrators to create a network of student support.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in counseling, with a strong preference for experience in a school environment. An advanced degree and MA state licensure are required either in counseling, social work, or school psychology.

In addition, the Counselor will demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Understanding of child development

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive practices and the impact they have on curriculum and the community

  • Capacity to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Desire and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues

  • Understand and exhibit high standards of professional conduct

  • Ability to support social-emotional learning goals
