We are seeking an experienced elementary school teacher who seeks to share their love of learning with Class 2 children. You are an energetic and productive self-starter with excellent organizational and relationship building skills and are adept at guiding students in the classroom and supporting them in their extracurricular pursuits.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to:
- Foster a culture of high expectations for students in a supportive, academically rigorous learning environment
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with School standards
- Support the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of each child
- Collaborate with peer faculty to develop curriculum, projects, and assessments (e.g., text-based, project-based, web-based, cooperative learning, discussion groups, field trips, homework, etc.)
- Provide instruction across all subjects including math, reading, social studies, English, spelling, and vocabulary and collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty (science, fine and performing arts, computers, STEM, and athletics)
- Coordinate timely and ongoing communication and feedback to faculty and parents
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with teachers and academic support to effectively address those needs and employ differentiated instruction
- Create a learning environment that promotes character, respect, and goodwill
- Demonstrate a commitment to training and professional development to remain current with educational standards, emerging technology, classroom resources, and pedagogy
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, in-service programs, and training workshops
- Support an inclusive school community that promotes cultural competence, diversity, and respect for all
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- At least three years of full-time classroom experience teaching lower school students
- Experience planning, organizing, developing, and conducting comprehensive lesson plans and instruction
- Working knowledge of teaching principles and theories, behavior management, conflict resolution strategies
- Experience teaching reading skills, strategies, and fluency required
- Effective interpersonal, time management, and communication skills (oral, written, non-verbal)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents
- Understanding of the academic, social, and behavioral attributes of lower school students
- Create and contribute to an engaging and inclusive learning environment and workplace
- Engage in ongoing continued education and professional development
- Ability to be flexible, effectively manage stress, and adapt to changing work priorities and assignments
