Montrose School seeks a short term-6 week Learning Support substitute this spring to provide consistent support for students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate may be considered for full-time employment for the 2025-2026. The incumbent will work within the Learning Support team to

  • support a focused working environment for students and to facilitate assessments for students using extended time or make-up work
  • facilitate communication among students, teachers and parents to support students when they get behind on work or when new challenges emerge
  • meets with as many upper school students as schedule allows to provide weekly support that can include
    • Executive function coaching
    • Study skills support
    • Long-term project/paper/presentation support
    • Specific skills and content support to guide student mastery in targeted subject areas

The ideal candidate will have a background in Special Education as well as:

  • Strong knowledge of adolescent developmental needs as well as educational best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, administrators, and the public
  • Excellent facility with computers (Zoom, Canvas, Veracross and Google Suite)
  • Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and following school mission and practices
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion 
  • Sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality must be maintained at all times
  • Professionalism in timeliness for arrival times
