Learning Specialist (Grades 4-8)

Inly School seeks a full time Learning Specialist Teacher to join our dedicated faculty and staff at our Toddler to Eighth Grade Montessori school for the 2021–2022 school year. The Upper School Learning Specialist uses a variety of data and observations to form strategic plans, develop resources and deliver instruction and support teachers in making accommodations in the classroom. The Upper School Learning Specialist teacher coordinates with Upper Elementary and Middle School classroom teachers, as well as the Math Integrationist, to support inclusive and culturally-responsive pedagogical practices that respond to individual students’ learning needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students with documented learning differences in the Upper School, grades 4 to 8, to develop strategies and skills to support their specific learning needs.
  • Work closely with families, teachers and students to ensure appropriate communication and coherence of care as students move from level to level throughout their time at Inly.
  • Work closely with the Learning Services team, Lower and Upper School Directors, Math Integrationist and classroom teachers to help guide the School’s efforts to continually enhance teachers’ effectiveness in working with students both with and without documented learning differences.
  • Facilitate a schedule of literacy benchmarking and lead data reflection meetings with classroom teaching teams and the Learning Services team to analyze benchmarking data and student work to formulate responses.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with teaching teams and levels to build practices around differentiation and investment in research-based, student-centered instruction for all learners.


Strong Candidates will have: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • Minimum three years teaching experience
  • A demonstrated ability to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment and a commitment to anti-bias teaching practice
  • Experience with Orton Gillingham, Lucy Calkins Writers Workshop, Fountas and Pinnell literacy program a plus
