Tower School is an independent Beginners through 8th grade school located in Marblehead, MA. Our mission is to teach students to think critically and creatively, to develop joyful curiosity, to embrace challenges, to apply their knowledge with confidence, and to thrive within a community rich with diverse perspectives and talents.
Tower seeks teaching faculty who demonstrate an interest in participating fully in the life and activities of a highly engaging elementary and middle school, and who will contribute to furthering Tower’s mission. Successful candidates will exhibit a great work ethic, a good sense of humor, strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to inspire young people.
The Learning Skills Center plays an integral role in Tower’s mission to empower a diverse range of learners to reach their academic and personal goals. In addition to providing academic support classes and case management for students with diagnosed learning needs, the Learning Skills Center provides consultation for any student experiencing academic difficulty, and provides ongoing support to Tower faculty and parents.
Tower is hiring an enthusiastic, collaborative, and experienced Learning Skills Specialist (80%-100%, full-time will be considered) to start August 2026.
Preferred candidates will have:
- A minimum of 5 years experience working with children
- A Masters degree or extensive coursework in Special Education
- Experience with evidence-based practice in reading such as Orton Gillingham or Wilson Reading Systems
- The ability to work with a range for learners from kindergarten to eighth grade in a small groups as well as 1:1 tutorials, providing individualized instruction in the areas of reading, math, writing, study skills, and organizational strategies
- Knowledge of formal and informal benchmarking assessments as well as reading and interpreting neuropsychological testing and implementing the recommendations
- Experience collaborating as part of a professional team
