Kindergarten Teacher (Associate)

The Learning Project Elementary School is located in Boston’s Back Bay and is an independent day school for grades K-6. We maintain a strong foundation in character education, uphold high standards for academic performance, and maintain a firm commitment to enrolling a diverse community of students and families.

The school seeks an educator to serve as the Kindergarten Associate Teacher. Duties include:

  • Serving as a critical member of a three person teaching team, consisting of the Head Teacher,Associate Teacher, and Teaching Fellow.
  • Serving as ‘second in command’ and leading the class in the Head Teacher’s absence;
  • Teaching differentiated groups in language arts, social studies, and mathematics;
  • Collaborating with the Head Teacher to create lessons, units, and map out curricula;
  • Supporting and leading classroom activities and hands-on learning experiences;
  • Participating in curriculum evaluation to meet the needs of students and the school’s mission;
  • Communicating and maintaining high standards for classroom management using positiveapproaches and restorative practices;
  • Communicating with parents as needed;In addition, the Kindergarten Associate Teacher also works with children in the After School Program twice a week, assisting with homework and supervising play, providing the opportunity to work with students at multiple grade levels.

    Qualified candidates will have a degree in education or a teaching credential, and have already completed a teaching fellowship (or equivalent). Experience with early literacy instruction strongly preferred.
