Do you have a passion for enhancing individual and communal Jewish life through formal and informal education? Gann Academy is seeking candidates with a genuine excitement of and infectious passion for Jewish life and education.

Jewish and Student Life Fellows will be involved in all aspects of programming, including but not limited to recruitment of student participants, collaboration with staff and faculty, facilitating student leadership, administrative support for programming such as Shabbatonim, and travel for student programming. In addition, Jewish and Student Life Fellows may work with the administrative departments such as Admissions and Enrollment or Development.

This is a 10-month in-person position with a salary range of $42,000- $47,000 depending on experience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Jewish Life: Cultivate and activate student leaders. Envision, plan, and execute holiday celebrations and programs, Shabbatonim, tikkun olam projects, and other Jewish life programs. Attend all Shabbatonim and play appropriate leadership role.
  • Student Life: Plan with student government, and facilitate weekly all-school Hakhel assemblies. Help plan and participate in various other student life programs throughout the year, including orientation.
  • Events: Attend various Admissions and general school events throughout the year including some events that take place at night or on weekends.
  • Zman Kodesh (Tefillah): Collaborate with Zman Kodesh leader in planning and facilitation of special programming (e.g., Rosh Chodesh) and facilitate a minyan or alternative prayer group.
  • Israel Programming: Support the planning and delivery of elements of senior Israel class trip.
  • Jewish Studies: Attend some Jewish Studies department meetings and observe Jewish Studies classes.
  • Admissions: Work with the admissions team to plan and deliver programming to engage prospective students. After being trained, give tours of the school, and do interviews with perspective students.
  • Administrative: Jewish Life Fellows may be tasked to help with various administrative tasks across all departments.
  • Education: Act as substitute teacher as necessary.
  • Other: Participate in coaching by a senior faculty members and other senior leadership of the school.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Experience working with teens, ideally in a Jewish summer camp or youth group environment.
  • A background in Jewish studies and/or good knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed empathy.
  • Ability to work within a pluralistic Jewish setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Self-starter with good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a number of projects, assimilating information with accuracy and consistent attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. An ability to quickly learn school specific software programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • B.A. Degree is preferred.
