Position Summary
The Rink Operator is a part time, seasonal position. This position includes nights and weekends during hockey season. The Ice Rink Operator oversees the day-to-day operations of the ice arena which include cleaning and driving the Zamboni Ice Resurfacer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintaining a quality sheet of ice
- Safe and efficient driving of the Zamboni Ice Resurfacer
- Handle daily activities, keeping on schedule
- Ability to run the skate shop including skate sharpening
- Maintain arena’s cleanliness to optimal levels
- Exhibit superior customer service skills
- Performs other related duties as directed by the Rink Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- US Ice Rink or ISI Certification
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in high-stress situations
- Successful criminal background check, and pre-employment physical examination

- Regularly walk, talk, stand, sit and reach during shift. Occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, climb and crawl.
- Occasionally push, pull, lift or carry items weighing 30 to 50 lbs or more.
- Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
- Subject to environmental conditions with activities that occur inside and outside, including cold temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
- Subject to sufficient noise that requires shouting in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Subject to vibrations and hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
