History Substitute Teacher (March Start)
Lumen Academy, a non-profit K-8 private school, is seeking a History Substitute Teacher beginning in March. This position will support history instruction across multiple grade levels and may involve both short-term and ongoing substitute coverage.
The ideal candidate is creative, flexible, and student-centered, and enjoys working with different age groups. We are looking for someone who can engage students through discussion, inquiry, projects, and interactive activities rather than relying solely on lecture.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching history classes across various grade levels as needed
- Following lesson plans when provided and designing engaging activities when appropriate
- Creating a positive, respectful classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Background in history, social studies, education, or a related field
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a classroom setting
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Flexibility, reliability, and a collaborative mindset
