High School Placement Coordinator for Achieve Program 

Founded in 2008 at the Noble and Greenough School, Achieve is a tuition-free summer and academic year educational program for middle school students from Boston. The High School Placement Coordinator is a part-time position. This person’s main task is to ensure that each 8th grader enrolled in Achieve is placed in a high-quality secondary school.  The High School Placement Coordinator will have experience working with underrepresented students and an understanding of the public school landscape in Boston. This position provides an exciting opportunity to provide both direct mentoring and counseling to students.  The position reports to the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead Secondary School Application Process  

  • Manage a comprehensive secondary-school application process for current eighth-grade students  
  • Teach Saturday sessions designed to walk students through the secondary-school application process
  • Collaborate with  coaches/mentors to support the application process
  • Research and manage appropriate SSAT/ISEE tutoring services for students 
  • With support from the director, lead info sessions for families regarding the application process

Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional experience, with prior success in program management roles, preferably in an organization with a focus on education, children, youth, or families
  • Knowledge of Boston area schools and educational landscape preferred
  • Bilingual or professional competence in English and one or more of the following languages is a plus: Spanish,Haitian Creole,Vietnamese, Cape Verdean Creole.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Ability to thrive within a small team environment and work collaboratively or independently as needed, with high degrees of personal initiative and accountability
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Humor and Flexibility
  • Cultural sensitivity and humility in working with diverse and low- income populations, with an awareness of institutionalized racism and classism facing low-income communities
