John Bapst has an opening for a full-time School Counselor for the 2021-2022 school year beginning in August. This is a permanent position. The successful candidate will have a degree in Counseling or related field (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate). Counselors provide personal and academic guidance to 460 local day students and 50 international students. Tasks range from academic advising and scheduling through PowerSchool to leading students through the college application process using Naviance.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who understands the full range of tasks a high school counselor must be able to handle with calm professionalism.. Excellent people skills with teenagers, parents, teachers, staff, and administration are essential. Confidence with writing and public speaking are important as the counselors write dozens of letters of recommendation annually and preside at college and financial aid information nights for parents and students.
