Lincoln Academy, in Newcastle, Maine seeks a Health & Physical Education teacher; this position has flexibility based on the qualified individual’s desire for a full or part time position for the 2023-2024 school year.  Founded in 1801, Lincoln Academy is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the midcoast communities of central Lincoln County.  For 220 years we have served as an educational center for students from more than 15 towns in the region.  In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 55 international and domestic boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them.

Lincoln Academy is seeking a versatile Health & Physical Education teacher for a half-time position, with the potential for more sections. Teaching duties may include Health I & II (Introduction to Wellness and Wellness for Life) and a range of elective offerings such as Cooperative Team Games, Fitness & Weight Training, and Martial Arts. Specific teaching assignments may change from year to year based on the needs of the student body.

Preference will be given to individuals holding certification in both Health and Physical Education. Coaching experience is also valuable. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members also advise a group of students, collaborate with colleagues and students in a diverse academic setting, and participate in some duties associated with the school’s boarding program. Evidence of positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents and a commitment to continued professional development are also important qualifications.
