The Head Hockey Coach & Associate Director of Admission is a member of the admission office reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management and is responsible for coaching and implementing a hockey-specific training regimen and development program, including time both on and off the ice. The Head Hockey Coach is also responsible for implementing a recruitment strategy to ensure the continued success of the school’s hockey program, which currently has 10 graduates either committed or playing in Division I and Division III athletics (Yale – 2, Dartmouth, BC, UML, Amherst, Holy Cross, Trinity, Tufts, Army), 2 graduates in the OHL, and 1 playing for the Florida Panthers.
This position will advocate on behalf of the ninth-grade hockey players when appropriate with regards to the secondary school placement process. This position will be responsible for actively recruiting, evaluating, and managing the application process for potential student-athletes and for the general admission population in conjunction with and in support of the admission office. This position is committed to providing friendly, confidential, and timely assistance to all prospects and families, and facilitating a smooth application process for prospective Hillside School students and participants with the assistance of the admission office.
Essential Functions:
- Present the school and athletic/hockey program to prospective students and parents including organized and efficient handling of communication with candidates and their parents; tour candidates and their parents and assist with the overall admission and evaluation process.
- Work cooperatively with Hillside teaching faculty to ensure a smooth assimilation and transition process to the school for the recruits
- In conjunction with the Director of Enrollment Management and the Senior Administrative team, assist in developing marketing tools and advertising campaigns to capture the attention of potential families and develop marketing tools for student recruitment and enrollment
- Provide 2 hours on average of intensive hockey training as the Head Coach of the Hillside Hockey Varsity Development program.
- Training should include but not be limited to on-ice, weight room, nutrition, classroom time, and personal student-athlete goal setting.
- Proactively cultivate relationships with outside hockey program directors, consultants, agents, coaches, families, and schools who may refer students to Hillside School.
- Research, identify, and cultivate new potential domestic and international markets for enrollment for the school.
- Represent the school and hockey program at various gatherings including showcases, tournaments, games, and practices. Domestic and international travel will be required.
- Support the school and its leadership.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Director of Enrollment Management.

During this Introductory Period, Hillside School will evaluate your suitability for employment, and you can evaluate Hillside School as well. At any time during this first thirty (30) days, you may resign without any detriment to your record. If, during this period, your work habits, attitude, attendance or performance does not measure up to our standards, we may release you. Hillside reserves the right to extend a probationary period if your first thirty days of employment do not provide opportunity for a true demonstration of suitability.
