Middlesex School seeks a highly qualified head coach for the Varsity Football program for the fall season of 2022. Middlesex is a coeducational college-preparatory boarding secondary school of 400 students located in Concord, Massachusetts. The Varsity Football Head Coach will be responsible for organizing, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, all aspects of the Football program. Program-specific duties include the development and teaching of all offensive and defensive tactics, as well as the philosophies and values associated with the program, while intentionally building a positive and inclusive team culture; planning and implementing practice sessions with a roster of roughly 45 boys from grades 9-12; game-day management, both home and away, in a professional manner; coordinating with and leading all coordinators and position coaches; leading all video scouting efforts and leading all film sessions with coaches and players; tracking and managing the reconditioning and NOCSAE certification of all safety equipment (helmets, shoulder pads,etc.); leading all recruitment efforts of prospective student-athletes, in conjunction with the Admissions Office and Director of Athletics; coordination, and representing Middlesex Football at all ISL and NEPSAC meetings.

Ideal candidates will have previous high-level football coaching experience at the collegiate and/or high school/prep school level. The ability to coordinate, communicate, teach the game, and foster a positive and supportive team culture with a focus on player development and advancement is essential. On a more individual level, the head coach is expected to invest in the development of each player, which includes regular feedback and communication on and off the field; develop college recruitment network to support players; offer active support throughout the college process, in conjunction with the College Counseling Office; and invest, through mentorship, in the moral and ethical education of each player.

Ideal candidates will not only be qualified for the Head Coach position for our Football program, but also a full-time Faculty member with a variety of advising, teaching, and/or administrative responsibilities. A competitive salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. It is important to note that all Middlesex employees in the 2021-22 school year have been required to submit proof of a full COVID vaccination, via Employee Navigator, prior to beginning their work on campus.
